Field of Dreams

Is this heaven?  It's Iowa.  Iowa? I could have sworn it was heaven.  Is there a heaven?  Oh yeah. It's the place dreams come true.  Maybe this is heaven."

Picked up one of my favorite movies of all time on Blu-Ray the other night at Wal-Mart for only $12.00 and finally got the time to watch it tonight.  It has been awhile since I seen this movie so I am excited!

If you have not seen Field of Dreams (could there be anybody?) it is about a Iowa farmer named Ray Kinsella who hears a voice in his corn field tell him, "If you build it, he will come."  So he builds the field where his corn used to be and the ghost of Shoeless Joe Jackson and the other seven Chicago White Sox players who were banned for throwing the 1919 World Series appear.

If you haven't seen it you need to!

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the movie -

"Well, you know I... I never got to bat in the major leagues. I would have liked to have had that chance. Just once. To stare down a big league pitcher. To stare him down, and just as he goes into his windup, wink. Make him think you know something he doesn't. That's what I wish for. Chance to squint at a sky so blue that it hurts your eyes just to look at it. To feel the tingling in your arm as you connect with the ball. To run the bases - stretch a double into a triple, and flop face-first into third, wrap your arms around the bag. That's my wish, Ray Kinsella. That's my wish. And is there enough magic out there in the moonlight to make this dream come true?" (Doctor Archibald "Moonlight" Graham)

"
Ray, people will come Ray. They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's only $20 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers; sit in shirtsleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come." (Terence Mann)

Here is the field in Dyersville, Iowa . . . around 800 miles from
where we are in Cheyenne.  I would love to make a
trip out there to see it soon.

Fantasia / Fantasia 2000

This was another one of my Christmas presents.  One of my all-time favorite Disney movies, Fantasia along with Fantasia 2000.    It was originally released on November 13, 1940 and was Walt Disney Productions third feature-length animated feature film.  Fantasia 2000 was the sequel to Fantasia and released on December 17, 1999.

Back to the Future Trilogy

This came out awhile ago but Marsha said I might get it for Christmas so I didn't buy it.  Well she was right and I got it!  This is one of my all-time favorite movies and I will be watching it today.

"1.21 gigawatts? 1.21 gigawatts? Great Scott!"

"Well, that is your name, isn't it? Calvin Klein? It's written all over your underwear."

"Dear Doctor Brown, On the night I travel back in time you will be shot by terrorists. Please do whatever is necessary to prevent this terrible tragedy from occurring. Your friend, Marty."

Disney's A Christmas Carol

The classic Charles Dickens tale re-told by Disney starring Jim Carrey.

It came out earlier in the week and we finally picked it up today.  We got to watch a little bit of it but dinner, homework and bedtime got in the way.  We will finally get to finish it tomorrow night . . . I can't wait.

Upcoming Disney Movies: TRON: Legacy

The TRON saga continues with the release of TRON: Legacy, 28 years after the original TRON in 1982.

Here is the synopsis by Walt Disney Pictures - Sam Flynn (Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Bridges), a man once known as the world's leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn's Arcade -- a signal that could only come from his father-- he finds himself pulled into a digital world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Wilde), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a cyber universe -- a universe created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced with vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.

Check out the TRON: Legacy Official Trailer if you haven't seen it.

TRON: Legacy is set to be released on December 17, 2010.  Who's going to see it?

Upcoming Disney Animated Movies: Tangled

Tangled is the 50th animated feature in Walt Disney's Animated Classic series.  The story is based on the classic German fairy tale Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm.  The original title was going to be Rapunzel Unbraided and then Rapunzel before being switched to Tangled.  Tangled is set to be released on November 24, 2010 and I am sure Kaylee will be bugging us to see it very soon.

Family Movie Night - Toy Story 3

Tonight was Family Movie Night and we watched Toy Story 3 which came out last Tuesday in case you didn't know.  It was just as good as when we saw it in the theater while on leave in Vegas.  This time though I didn't have James sitting next to me with tears in his eyes!  :)
