Disney's A Christmas Carol

The classic Charles Dickens tale re-told by Disney starring Jim Carrey.

It came out earlier in the week and we finally picked it up today.  We got to watch a little bit of it but dinner, homework and bedtime got in the way.  We will finally get to finish it tomorrow night . . . I can't wait.

It's A . . .

. . . Girl!  We found out today we are expecting a baby girl next March.  We went for the ultrasound today and the doctor said it looks like a girl?  The baby wasn't cooperating and keeping the legs crossed . . . so it has to be a girl right?

Happy "13th" Birthday Jordan

It has been almost 13 years since the picture on the left was taken.  That is Jordan when he was only 5 days old and today he turns 13!  Only a few more years and he can drive, graduate high school . . . you get the picture.  I hope that doesn't come too fast, not sure Marsha can handle it!  LOL

Disneyland: Here We Come

It is finally under 10 days until we get to go to Disneyland!  We just went in July but after being in England and not getting to go for 4 years it is exciting to get to another time this year.  Although we did go to Disneyland Paris but I am not counting that?  We are already planning another trip in the spring to get some more uses out of our annual passes.  We will be there the three days before Thanksgiving and then will spend Thanksgiving with my parents.
Disneyland/California Adventure during the holidays, 2005.
Kaylee was too little and we left her with my parents.
We will need to get an updated Disney Christmas photo this time!
I am sure there will be plenty of new pictures to post from the trip so stay tuned!

Upcoming Disney Movies: TRON: Legacy

The TRON saga continues with the release of TRON: Legacy, 28 years after the original TRON in 1982.

Here is the synopsis by Walt Disney Pictures - Sam Flynn (Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Bridges), a man once known as the world's leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn's Arcade -- a signal that could only come from his father-- he finds himself pulled into a digital world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Wilde), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a cyber universe -- a universe created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced with vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.

Check out the TRON: Legacy Official Trailer if you haven't seen it.

TRON: Legacy is set to be released on December 17, 2010.  Who's going to see it?

Upcoming Disney Animated Movies: Tangled

Tangled is the 50th animated feature in Walt Disney's Animated Classic series.  The story is based on the classic German fairy tale Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm.  The original title was going to be Rapunzel Unbraided and then Rapunzel before being switched to Tangled.  Tangled is set to be released on November 24, 2010 and I am sure Kaylee will be bugging us to see it very soon.

It's Snowing in Cheyenne

This is what we woke up to this morning, SNOW!  The weather people said 2-4 inches and it looks like they are going to be right.  It is supposed to snow all day today, let up tomorrow but then come back on Saturday.  The kids have a half-day today and as soon as they get home they will be out playing in it.

Veteran's Day

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Veteran's Day.

"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with lots of pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations." - Woodrow Wilson (November 11, 1919)

Disneyland Progress Report

For those that know me real well know I am addicted to all things Disney, Disneyland and Walt Disney. Here is a progress report that aired in 1955 on Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color (1954-1990).  It is very cool to see the beginnings of the "The Happiest Place on Earth" - Disneyland and to see where they are at today.  Although a lot has changed in its 55 years of existence the magic is still there!

Check out the Disneyland pre-opening report below.

Disneyland Pre-Opening Report

From what I could gather these aired on July 13, 1955 on Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color (1954-1990).

Check out the live television broadcast of the Disneyland Opening below.

Disneyland Opening Day Broadcast

Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955 and this live television special was broadcasted on ABC.  It was co-hosted by Art Linkletter, Bob Cummings and Ronald Reagen and had appearances by many stars of the day.

Raiders Beat Chiefs In OT

Jason Campbell threw a 47-yard pass to rookie Jacoby Ford in overtime to set up a 33-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski that gave the Oakland Raiders their biggest win in eight years, a 23-20 victory over the AFC West-leading Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Campbell and Ford hooked up on a 29-yard pass in the closing seconds of regulation to set up Janikowski's tying 41-yard field goal. The Raiders (5-4) then won it in overtime for their most significant victory since winning the 2002 AFC championship.
By winning their third straight game for the first time since that season, Oakland heads into its bye week just a half-game behind Kansas City (5-3) in the division.  (From NFL.com)
Jason's Player of the Game
WR Jacoby Ford (R) - 6 catches for 148 yards, 156 kickoff return yards plus a kickoff return for a TD.

Did You Know
The Raiders are now 3-0 in division games this season and are the 2nd highest scoring team in the NFL with 235 points scored.  The San Diego Chargers (4-5) are the top scoring team with 239

Daylight Savings Time (DST)

Don't forget to set your clocks back 1 hour before going to bed or you will lose an extra hour of sleep. Enjoy the extra sleep and the early darkness coming soon!  Only about 4 months and you can set the clocks forward once more!

Brief History of DST
(From www.timeanddate.com)

Benjamin Franklin first suggested Daylight Saving Time in 1784, but modern DST was not proposed until 1895 when an entomologist from New Zealand, George Vernon Hudson, presented a proposal for a two-hour daylight saving shift to the Wellington Philosophical Society.
The conception of DST was mainly credited to an English builder, William Willett in 1905, when he presented the idea to advance the clock during the summer months. His proposal was published two years later and introduced to the House of Commons in February 1908. The first Daylight Saving Bill was examined by a select committee but was never made into a law. It wasn't until World War I, in 1916, that DST was adopted and implemented by several countries in Europe who initially rejected the idea.

Blue, You're My Boy!

Before we moved to Cheyenne we promised the kids (mostly Kaylee) that we would get a puppy.  They missed having dogs, we had Simon (RIP) and Belle (RIP) when we lived in Albuquerque but unfortunately they didn't live long enough to make the move with us to Cheyenne.  So last week Marsha and I visited the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and saw a few potential dogs to adopt but they were adult dogs for the most part.  There were a few dogs out getting check-ups so we planned to go back later in the week.  A week ago Friday, on my way home from work I decided to make a quick stop to see if there were any new dogs and I came across a 10-month Beagle named Blue.  I visited with him for awhile and it only took a few minutes to decide to adopt him.  I knew that if I left to pick up Marsha to get her opinion that Blue may be gone when I get back as there was a couple looking at him.  So Blue jumped in the Tahoe with me and away we went.  Marsha and the kids were surprised and Blue is now part of the family.  He has been a pretty good dog with only one accident in the house (in the first 15 minutes) and one chewed hat (Marsha's Nike hat).  We got him plenty of chew toys so hopefully he will leave our stuff alone.  We kept his name Blue because he already knew it, if he didn't have a name I think he would have been named "Buster" after Buster Posey of the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants.  Buster, you're my boy doesn't sound as good though!

And remember as the great Bob Barker would say, "Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered."

Halloween 2010

Our first Halloween in Cheyenne was surprisingly nice.  We had heard in the past that it can be really, really, really cold and sometimes would snow.  But not this year, it was nice and clear and probably in the low 50's.

Kaylee was Cinderella.  We bought this
costume at Disneyland Paris last March and
she was excited to finally get to wear it.

painted white or any fake blood though?

Jordan carved a scary Pac-Man into his pumpkin.

Kaylee's pumpkin was a cat and Calvin's was a spider.

Family Movie Night - Toy Story 3

Tonight was Family Movie Night and we watched Toy Story 3 which came out last Tuesday in case you didn't know.  It was just as good as when we saw it in the theater while on leave in Vegas.  This time though I didn't have James sitting next to me with tears in his eyes!  :)

Culley Family Growing

Some of you know and some of you don't but we have some big news.  We are expecting our fourth child next year, March 25 is the due date.  We found out shortly after we arrived in Cheyenne but kinda knew a little before that.  We will find out the sex in about a week and a half and then we can choose a name.  Jordan, Calvin and Kaylee all would like another girl so that Kaylee will have somebody to play with.  Another little girl would be great but I am just hoping for a healthy baby, boy or girl.
